| The crankcase drain hose drains the crankcase and has no pressure on it. The oil filter drain hose on the other hand has engine oil pressure on it when the engine is running. Most farmers around here remove the filter drain hose and put in a pipe plug at the filter thus eliminating the potential for this hose to fail. I know you can't drain the oil filter during oil changes but there isn't much oil there anyway if you catch it with rags. This oil filter drain hose has failed many times ( heat in the engine compartment) in the past and caused engine oil fires. I think it is either 1/2" or 3/8" NPT pipe plug. Check that hose to make sure it hasn't failed. | |
