| Yes, we do run a plate on all 3 concaves. Believe it or not, it is what gives us a lot of cpacity. We have since bought 14' swathe headers, but this 1680 used to run at 3.2mph to 3.8mph in 1000-1300lb/acre crimson in a 12' swathe. The deal about the seed plates is the ability to retard the material enough to rub the seed out without cracking. If your cleaner charges by the in weight, and you have a 30% cleanout because of crackage, it gets spendy to clean the seed. Plus the disappointment in adjusted yeild between in weight and clean weight at that cleanout is enough to make a guy cry.:-( I shoot for less than 5% cleanout. Most times I can get 2 to 3%. I admit that I do set the machine loss according to the price of the seed. (and the pending weather)
Also, these plates are about shot. They'll need to be re-barred soon.
