Subject: RE: used combine advice

Norhtwest Iowa
I used to run a 4400, then a 6600 and even ran a 6620 for a season in corn. Then I sold my 6620 and bought an older 1480, much quieter cab, easier to run, and work on, 1/3 less moving parts than green ones, plus much easier to set. If you combine very many dry beans the dust won't shoot out the front of the feederhouse at night so you can't see. The 1480 had more hours on it than our 6600 and 6620 and we cut our down time in half. I did have a combine fire on the 1480 after I had ran it for 6 years or so, the batter cable shorted out during bean harvest. It was replaced with a 1680, look at the different combines and you'll see for yourself that there's alot less things to go wrong on a red one.
