Don, the short tires would have been a great asset when we used the trailers with the 7720's.  I had the shortest low profile car tires I could find on them and that helped a lot.  Ought to be able to find something around 25" tall if you put the word out that you are looking for used short tires...I think we had 195-50R15's on one and 205-55R14's on another.  The 9600's lift high enough it really isn't a problem anymore and the car tires don't like the heavier heads we have today, so now we have 30-8.8-15 aircraft tires on them.    Before the shorter car tires I had some experience with digging holes and even removing a tire to get a head free when the slope wasn't as favorable as it had looked at the start of the process.
