I am too young to have really gotten a taste of handleing ear corn but it looks like it was much more time consuming and later in the season then current combineing shelling.
You've got it. Also, too many guys have lost a finger or a limb trying to unplug the husking rolls and gathering chains. Combines are safer. I think that is why many (most/all?) companies have quit making pickers.
