Subject: Drilled or Rows?

Gresham, Nebraska
Is the milo drilled or in rows? Are you planning to plant the soybeans with a drill or in rows?

We plant everything in 30" rows and have been no-till planting soybeans into milo stubble for several years - right down the old row, right down the milo stubble. We have row cleaners on the planter units but keep them up off the ground by an inch or so. We have found that the overlapping (one slightly in front of the other) tined wheel design works best for us. This will keep the previous years stalks from jamming themselves in between the opening disks and gauge wheels on the planter row unit. Just be sure to get the seed into moisture, pinch the seed slot closed and you'll be good to go. Good Luck!
