the rear suspension is a trailing arm type. and it moves in an arc. when bag is at normal ride height versus fully extended can be a change in distance 'horizontially' of a couple inches. if both tractor and trailer brakes are set and the bags extend then those couple inches have to come from either slack in fifth wheel, worn bushings in axles , tire movement or strain on trailer .
sometimes one unhooks loaded trailer without deflating air bags and comes back later after air leaks out of bags to find slightly bent jacks.
