Here is a bulletin fromm Oklahoma on controlling "slick spots" as they are sometimes called. Lowering soil pH is almost impossible so other measures have to be taken, like improved drainage and adding lots of organic material. http://www.soiltesting.okstate.edu/Extn_Pub/F-2226web.pdf
