You can get a pretty simple one from John Deere for about $25. It is not a fancy one with a dial, just a pointed probe with marks every 2". We play with ours all the time and my buddies have them also. It's interesting to check in the row vs. between rows in a tire track. For a real eye opener go stick it in a fence row.
