Subject: Re: Grain truck/wagon tarps

Saranac, Michigan
We just built some simple tarp rollers for gravity boxes like we used on our dumptrucks. They are just a 2"x4" on the dead end and a 2"x2" on the roll up end with tarp straps on each end and the sides. On a bigger box we used 1" pipe on the roll up. We made some brackets out of 1/2" rod to hang the dead end on right side of the box that when the tarp is rolled up, it it about levle with the top of the box.
On the bigger box, we have a crank that you can roll out the tarp without getting up on the wagon. Al that said, next year we want to do something better. The best I can say is that every load has had to be tarped in the rain and it sure beat hustling to the shed and unhooking wagons, just to have to rehook them in the morning.
