| Last winter, we lost power for 8 days. It never got above 30°, and we had to fight 6' drifts and 35mph winds. I've got pictures of feeder steers walking over their pens and on top of the loading shoot. When they're hungry, they come on back for grub.
We've had our share of 'hurricane' force winds here in Kansas, we just don't get any press. We lost over 100 sprinkler in our area last summer, plus bins, elevator legs, buildings, trees, ect. We just buck up and move on.
So it's hard for me to feel any sorrow for a power outage in Hawaii. Especially when 2 guys I know are in the Middle East right now...I don't complain much when I'm around them or their family. My problems seem pretty minor.
I know a fella in Hawaii that manages a Macadamia operation. Last I heard, he was having trouble selling the finished product. He said he had never had that problem before.
I guess you can find problems in 'paradise', if you look hard enough.
Have a good one-Dave | |
