Well the other day a guy in our neighborhood drove his combine and 30ft. head down the road. Everything was going good till his header got caught on a wire and clean ripped it right off of the new combine and laid beside the road. Wonder what his insurance company thought of that one?
I'm beginning to hate those blasted 30+ feet straight-cut headers! Neighbor up the road 2 miles had 7 CR960s with the big headers. As luck would have it, we were hauling cereal silage from 3 miles up the road, and I'll be damned if we didn't encounter every single one of those beasts head on.
And knowing that owner, they've probably been threatened not to back down, not even to a semi with a 53' trailer loaded with 32 tons of silage. So of course, who has to back up?
No big issues with clipping things here, but other neigbhors have a 34-36 foot head on their swather, and they clip tree branches etc, never a sign or anything. As for crossing bridges though... they drive the swather up on railroad ties, stacked 2-3 high. Can you imagine if it fell?

BTW, awsome "story" needed a good laugh. |
