Aberdeen MS | Because those clods are not "compacted" when made, after good drying conditons they break apart very easily leaving an acceptable seed bed. At least that was the case for me this spring. I was in MUD.. 3 days later, the gauge wheels on the planter broke those clods apart into very very small "pebble" sized dirt particles. Had a 1/2" rain 2 days after planting which took care of any soil/seed contact problems that might have been. I had better germination this spring than I've ever had in conventional/mulch till with the strip till.
One needs to excersise patience, just like I hear from the no till guys. | |
