Subject: RE: 400-425 hp tractor?

Boone, Iowa
We have a 9170 and have been happy with it. I think they are a well built tractor and like the fact of the fuel tank at the back of the tractor for ballast instead of the tanks at the cab door. The powershift takes getting used to, like the other post stated. You get the skip shift starting with the 92 series and can add to the 91 series for about $1000 the last time I checked. Some have already been converted and can tell if the shift lever has a button on top. The 93 series has a couple of tranny options. Our engine had an oring around a sleeve a couple of years ago and scored a piston. We rebuilt the engine using the CPL # from a neighbors 9180. We can now go a gear faster and throttle back, when pulling the field culitvator. Other than engine, we have had little problem with this tractor. I have 20.8x42 duals and thinking I need more tire to the ground, but don't want width of triples.
