Subject: IVT for packing

Woodham, Ontario
IVT for pushing silage is something to get excited about! When we had the 7710 with IVT we would often pack with it and it worked really nice! If you took a bigger bite than expected the tractor just slows down a bit. You don't even worry about what speed you start pushing because the tractor just slows down as needed. The powerzero feature comes in really handy when you get to the back of the pile because it will never roll and just stops right on the edge and the tractor slows itself down when backing down.

But with that increase in fuel consumption there is absolutely no good reason to get IVT on a tillage tractor which often is the packing tractor too. I never did the math but I am certain the 7710 with IVT used more fuel than the 8120 does.
