Subject: RE: CIH 1200 planter opinions

How does the 1200 row unit perform in conventional tillage with lots of trash on the top (using row cleaners, of course). Mainly, I am wondering about corn stalks on top and root balls. We field cultivate with at TMII, which leave it kind of soft and se have stalk pieces about 12" long in the field.

My soil is very very sticky and prone to extreme compaction in the spring. I am thinking aobut putting 1200 row units on some sort of front fold toolbar to get better carrying wheels (not to mention save on the price by eliminating some of the electronic stuff). Any opinions on toolbars or strategies for this?

We would be switching from a JD 7200 to gain planting accuracy, speed, and seed placement. The old 7200 is worn out and needs a serious overhaul or be replaced soon.

Can you run a single vac blower with out the pto pump? We would be pulling it with a NH Genesis (or the 7250 Magnum in an emergency).
