To rotate the shaft you can use a prybar on the notches or a much easier method is to use a 15/16" wrench to turn the idler pulley on the engine fan belt at the side of the motor. I read this on the Case combine website and have used it myself to align the grease fitting with the hole in the housing for greasing the splines.
I have a 2344.
