| Today's technology has far surpassed any benefits to having manual/locking hubs. The only difference is simply in descrription: Manual vs. Automatic. My F-250 SD has electonic shift but, the hubs still have to be locked in. And, if you don't immediately get out and unlock them when getting back onto the road, when you turn the front end will bounce, tires will wear faster, etc. Manuals are simply a pain that no mfg. should even consider offering. As mentioned above, manual vs. auto is not porportional to the use or seriousness of how ou use your 4x4, it is simply Fords lack understanding the consumer. And, don't think for a minute that just because a Superduty with manual lock-outs has the word Auto instead of Off like they old 4x4's did means that you can have the hubs in auto and flip the switch in the cab and have automatic 4x4. The only way a Super duty's 4x4 works is when the hub is turned to Lock. It's JUNK. | |
