Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
There will be plenty of corn harvesting going on. Should just about be in the middle of harvest. Just drive in about any direction (more so to the east and west along the Platte valley on highway 30) and you will find farmers in the field. They missed this last rain so they should be going strong. One good way to see some farms would be to go to the Ag Valley coop elevator on the north side of the viaduct on Highway 83 and catch a ride out in the truck. Can't miss the elvator on the east side, there is a new million bushel bin there.
Like the other post mentioned, the railroad "humpyard" is the largest in the world. They have an observation place on the west side of town. Just ask around, someone will be able to tell you directions.
Don't be afraid to stop and ask for a ride, most farmers are pretty friendly and I'm sure they would be interested in talking with you.
