Eastern Shore of MD | What the OP asked IS the million dollar question that so many are asking, myself included. Paul, I think you are correct in your assessment that data in the future (and already IS in some places) will be captured like that, with manned aircraft flying counties and regions, not individual fields. I have spoke with companies that have hardware, software and workflow solutions in place for just this type of operation. Problem is, right now I can buy into all of that, pay a pilot to fly it, and then still face the enormous challenge of getting farmers to purchase these images. I personally see the benefit of this information but much like 98% of the farmers in my region, I don't have the equipment to VR side dress corn or VR apply a dry fert or VR irrigate. That is where the real value is going to be. I do see the value in simple RGB orthomosaics and 'false' NDVI images derived from those but its still a challenge getting others to see it.
