Subject: Re: Any problems with Vomitoxin in corn

Near-north Ontario, French River
Lots of corn being turned back at Commerial Alcohol lately. Local Co-op has had at least 5 loads turned back in the past few days due to vomitoxin levels. Ive heard that eastern ontario doesnt have as big a problem but like I was told, if you take the corn thats at 8-10ppm in our area and try to blend it with corn thats 1ppm in other areas, you still exceed the allowable levels. Sure you can bring in toxin free corn from along ways off, but you reach a point where it just costs too much money and you're back to square one. So what do to? Cargil in our area is even turning back farmer deliveries at their elevators, adm has stopped receiving corn as well. Finally get some decent yeilds, after 4 bad years , and we are getting screwed again. Btw... ADM has upped their minimum storage rates for beans to $.80/bu !!!!
