Back when I was raising wheat 1" was the planting depth I shot for. Like msb's area, there's not much wheat raised here anymore and what there is you can barely row. Went buy a neighbors field yesterday & thought he had winter annuals started to come up in his bean stubble before realizing it was a thin stand of wheat.

As a kid I can remeber a well respected older farmer in the area that was good friends with my foster father commenting that he didn't care if his drill froze in the ground on the last round sowing wheat. He always seemed to have some of the best looking crops around.
