Subject: Re: Cargill barley contracts

NW Washington
Feed barley is $160 a US ton in Portland Oregon. Did not see a price for brewing/malting barley. A lot of the brewing barley in the US is grown under contract from the brewers. Quite a bit of malting barley is grown in south Idaho under irrigation so the brewers can better control the quality. Company fieldman calls all the shots on growing the crop. Even the big Mexican brewer that makes Corona beer grows barley in Idaho.
