Subject: RE: A different type of strip tillage

SE South Dakota
Yes this (land) is the good stuff around here, not all is this nice! These runs are 950 feet long with about 3' fall, I set the grade at 3 tenth's. Most tiling I do I end up using a steeper grade. I'm using a Gold Digger (hat please Denny!) three point mounted plow on a JD 8220 front wheel assist.
One thing I have noticed this year (dry) as opposed to last year (very wet) the plow puts harder. I hardly ever needed a extra tractor on front last fall and now I rarely go without one, it I am using any depth at all. It's not a monster pull but with two tractors it just slips right in.
Once I started using that auto-trac to steer the tractor I like it alot as I can keep my eye on the plow and know the line is going in straight. Also I just set the width to whatever spacing I have and each run is exactly the same distance apart.
Are you the one that posted a picture of your rig last fall, a quad trac? Now that would be my wish tractor for a tile plow. Me a red tractor???
