Subject: RE: It doesn't get any better than that! NH3 with Pluribus

Driftless SW Wisconsin

Randy and others, I appreciate the kind words. I also appreciate the customers we work with.

We have done some work with NH3 and putting it down with the Pluribus is not as simple as it may seem. Simply putting a knife on it does not work. Been there, done that. A couple times actually.

Side dressing NH3 with a simple standard knife setup as an Iowa customer does in the reply picture above is much simpler and has some agronomic benefits.

However we do have a way of putting down NH3 with the Pluribus without affecting the basic performance of the unit but that will take some development. We will do this NH3 and some other evolutionary work such as applying liquid manure in the future as we grow.

What is not very apparent in the above photos is that this whole system takes relatively little hp, fertilizer rates can be cut by 1/3 or more from University broadcast recommendations and the residue on the surface between the rows will hold moisture for when and where it is needed later next summer if we have another dry year.

Yields comparisons must be taken with a grain of salt but the above strip till system actually seems to have a bit higher yields, this year, than other conventional tillage systems in the area.

Thanks again,

Jim at Dawn
