Subject: Oat/Straw ratio?

I'm planning on planting a few acres of oats next year, and have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to.
This is our first year with oats, and we plan on planting enough oats to make our steer and hog feed, however we really need straw for bedding. I assume there's a trade off, and just wonder if there's a particular seed that would be most beneficial to us?
My seed dealer is my local small feed mill, and so far he's not coming up with any competent answers.
Yes, we're small time, and I suppose "Wannabee's" from the definitions I've seen here, but as a daily reader, I just think it's the best source I can find.
I've looked all over the net, and searched every source I can find, but with only 200 acres we're hardly a pimple on a large dealers, uhhh nose.
Thanks,
Ron
