SWMN | Worked on ROPS and FOPS structures in the past and would never build my own. The canopy is not a part of the ROPS and is mild steel $500 to build, $1625 to buy and I have it drawn up in Creo already from several that I have measured. I have had a few people express interest in buying a canopy if I would like to build a bunch of them. Severaly have asked if I would build the support too and I have told them that they can buy the ROPS from Deere through the rebate program for around $240, which is less than it will cost to build a support bar and the fact that it is a lot easier to sell them another canopy for their next tractor when the ROPS saves their life since dead guys don't seam to spend much money.
The Deere ROPS kit includes bolts. I had a defective bolt with poor threads; Deere covered the bolt under warranty and it cost $26.50 (8 used on ROPS)
I always use the seat belt while mowing road ditches and slopes.
