Southwest Missouri | They sell something here that has a wooden handle about 4 feet long, same as a hoe handle. At the end is a sort of rolling basket with flexible wires. You roll it on the ground. The wires flex and the walnuts go in. When the basket is full, then you dump it into a bucket.
I saw one used a few years ago and bought one for Mom and Dad. My 86 and 87 year old parents were tickled to work and make $86. Shows the work ethic of that generation.
