| For solid manure I would agree that N loss is minimal, mainly because all of the ammonia is gone as soon as the poop hits the ground.
For liquid manure ( I believe this is what Mike and Oliver are talking about) there is substantial N loss if it is not immediately incorporated. The manure test from my lagoon this fall shows that the N is almost 75% Ammonia.
I've never seen anyone surface apply anhydrous, do you recommend it?
People with the notill or die attitudes really turn off the tillage crowd and myself. Tillage is often overdone but it has its place. | |
