Not to be blunt, but this is not the right place. You said you have an accountant. ASK HIM to set up a chart of accounts. If you fumble around with it, making mistakes you will pay far more to have him correct them. He will likely advise you to set up a strictly farm account.
After trying unsuccessfully for several years to get the most basic help from my cpa, I am switching accountant and doing this myself. Any accountant is very busy and is basically unavailable until after April 15th. By then I will be too busy with field work to pursue it.
Like many other jobs like plumbing, electrical, carpentry, I am forced to learn to do myself because there is no other way to get the job done.
not to be critical, but the other replies I received were much more helpful to me at this time.
