Subject: RE: Looking for a long range router

Here is a google. https://www.google.com/search?q=best+router+2018&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&c...

Question:
Do you want the mess routers? Do you want one of the space looking one?

Supposedly best range https://www.lifewire.com/best-long-range-routers-4122554

I have this one Best Value: TP-Link AC1900 dual band. I bought it when it was pretty new. ~$200.

Some things to look for:
-802.11ac
-While most routers offer both the 2.4 and 5GHz bands, the inclusion of a third band at 5GHz offers blazing fast Wi-Fi speeds
-router has KRACK fix
-lots of antennas and the ability to put a bigger antennas on the router
-Mesh networking???

I have been thinking of upgrading my TP-Link AC1900. From my research my router cannot be upgraded to fix the KRACK problem (short for, uh, Key Reinstallation AttaCK). The other problem is that new routers do not state if they have been fixed for the KRACK problem.

I have been resistant to go to mesh networking routers. I like to turn off the wifi when we are not in the house. In other words we do not show any wifi activity. This router works for us in that it gets to all the roku's, cell phones, etc in all parts of the house. I am just worried about the KRACK problem.
