Laptops are disposable. You'll get better performance, better parts, cheaper parts, and an easier to work on machine with a desktop...and it'll be cheaper, last longer, and be more upgrade-able.
Can't really get the same thing in laptop form...they'll have made accommodations for heat dissipation and battery consumption that a desktop won't have to live with.
