I'm pretty much a novice myself. The way I understand it, the main threat is if you have bought anything online with a credit card, or bank or pay bills online. Then the hackers gain access to your account and credit card numbers. Do you have any anti-virus software (like Norton)? Does your system do a weekly anti-virus scan? Do you subscribe to a regular system update (does a window ever pop up and say "Uploads are ready for your computer" ) ?
The way I understood 60 Minutes, it may be possible for you to pass it along via e-mail even if you don't have sensitive info yourself on-line. | |
