However Nascar is still a joke. Why not have each team go to a dealer, put a roll cage in the car they choose, race 500 miles and see what happens.
I got sucked in on the Toyota / Oldsmobile thing last year, so was a little more cautious this year, LOL.
I read that there is not 1 stock part on a Nascar stock car.
I have mixed feelings, they still pretty well fill the stands, even in this bad economy, and the cookie cutter cars are easier to keep half honest with one set of rules.
I am sure they don't want to go back to trying to police things like unlimited Mopar hemi's, Ford SOHC 427's and weird factory cars like the super birds and Ford taladaga which instantly made everything else obsolete.
The restrictor plates, side windows and roof flaps have made them a lot safer. Having a bunch of 3500# cars that flew if they got sideways or backwards, into the stands or rolled 15 times was going to get someone killed.
I do get royally miffed at the 1-1/2 hours of pre race crap, only to have the race finish in the dark or rained out.
Nascar will do whatever puts money in their pockets. |
