Where was the vehicle when the sample was pulled? If it was on your private property I'd say you got a gripe. If it was on the roadway, I doubt you got much foot to stand on.
Don't run dyed in a taxable vehicle and you won't have to worry about it. You sound a bit guilty being upset about it. If you have clear in there, its not a big deal.
Is it legal too.....
