Our 14 yo only has one more shot to go....our 21 yo just began hers and has two more to go. I think it's a good idea...if they can protect from even one thing that can cause cervical cancer, I'm all for it.
The first year that it came out I did hear something on the news about a girl that became paralyzed after having received the shot. However, it was not proven that the vaccine caused it. With every vaccine there is some risk, but the benefits outweigh the very small percentage of risk, IMHO.
I don't think I would let the school give the vaccine...I would consult a dr. as there are some girls who should NOT get the vaccine. Girls who are allergic to any of the ingredients...such as yeast...should not get the vaccine.
