I agree whole-heartedly with what you have said. When I farmed it seemed the only way to get more land was to set in the bars or coffee shops, that way you found out what was up for rent, at least around here anyway.I didn't care to do that. There was a farmer that passed away about a year ago,died during the nite and that afternoon somebody was there wanting to rent the ground. True or not, I don't know, but wouldn't surprise me.
The last piece of ground that I farmed, I found thru the fuelman that it was up for rent. Contacted the owner and got it rented, farmed it for 16 years and decided to call it quits and do something else. Now I work in town, help put the crop in and put up a little hay. Gotta stay in it somewhat. I tell my wife it is therapy after sitting in a building all day.
