Eastern Iowa | It's total political bluster. Social Security and Medicare shortfalls pretty much eliminate the feasibility of this notion from square one. But even if we had the money, I'd still oppose it. In a capitalist society, people have a way of getting what they want, even without government decree. I don't see the public at large clamoring for more trains, but now the government is going to give them to you. Free market economics tells you it will likely be a huge waste of capital. This is just more top-down policy theater from government types who do not live in the real world. | |
