| WYDave you are correct about needing high-density populations to make passenger train service work at its very best. We spent some time in Japan last year and their train service was most impressive to say the least. With our long distances and sparse population we cannot meet their efficiency but I do believe that train service could be operated in this country far more efficiently than it is right now.
Your back of the envelope figuring scares the crap out of me with you moving all those people to my beloved home state. I’ll be lucky if I don’t have a nightmare about that tonight.
