If you have Windows 10, Microsoft has a built in anti virus. If its Win 7, yea then maybe pay the piper. But there are good free anti virus programs too. If you dont have kids using the computer or dont make a habit of opening email from unknown senders you would be at very low risk of ever getting a problem.
