Ashburn, GA, (very close to Heaven!) | That would be a rare vehicle to own. There is a lot of sentiment for the power of a MOPAR 440, maybe more so in the D100.
Back in the late 80's thereabout, some guy down here sold a bunch of military surplus Dodges from that era. They were pretty tough trucks. I understand they came from Holland or Belgium or somewhere in Europe, or had been destined for there or something.
They were 318's, 4WD, no power steering, no radio, no air conditioning, metal floorboard, automatic transmission, green camouflaged paint, and of course, long wheelbase. I believe they had a 1 ton rating. We had one at the peanut company where I worked in the mid-90's. It was heavy and TOUGH. It drove worse than a tank without that P.S., and was a real gas guzzler. It would pull and haul hard. Of course it used a carburetor and ran a little on the rough side. Some said it was designed and tuned to run to meet European emissions standards on grades of gasoline blended for Europe, not ours. JoshuaInGA could vouch for this, but I imagine there were two or three dozen over there in the Worth County area at that time, all of them looked just alike. "Everybody who was anybody - plus somebodies who were nobodies - had one!" It was pretty easy to travel anonymously in one, as nobody knew it was you!
