SE MN | It sounds like I am about in the same place as you. I started farming in 2013, but took on a lot more ground in the last 3 years due to farmers retiring. I have always loved computers and excel even though I never really knew to much about either one, I could get done what I needed. The last three years I have learned more about Excel then my entire life combined. Most of it was through Google and YouTube with AgTalk close third. The largest issue I have had trying to learn something new with Excel is that I would know what I want to do and knew it could do it, but had no idea what they called the function. For instance, when I wanted to reference a specific cell in another one it’s called Vlookup, which is what I used for the first year. Then I learned about Index,Match which is what I use now. Another example is the drop down list, which Excel calls Data Validation and in that you have to select “list” from a drop down.
I attached a small spreadsheet that I have been working on for the last 3 years. I am constantly changing/ adding to it. I feel like it’s pretty easy to use, but then again I made it. I have several different inputs that I keep track of in it. Most of the information only has to be typed in once and then a drop down will supply the tables with the information and all of the tables go to a pivot table for a quick summary.
If you have any questions about it feel free to ask. I am also open to suggestions about what changes could be made. I have attached a few screenshots as well as the Excel file. Maybe it’s not what you are looking for, but it gives you an idea.
