Subject: RE: lime in no till ground

Alberta
I am a rookie at the lime spreading, but we did some wood ash two years ago on no till and some more last spring. We saw a bit of improvement the first year and some more the second year so I would agree that it is slowly working its way down.
My question back to you guys is what kind of rates are you using, are you going for calcium or ph adjustment, what is the source of lime, we have some lime available from a sugar beet plant that has gone through the processing of beets.
Is anyone doing seed placed lime for seedrow adjustment or just the broadcast?
I was thinking about grid testing the field and then applying different rates where needed because I am going after ph adjustment as my average ph is 5 so I amagine there is lower.
What about wood ash, anyone used it?
I am in central Alberta so I don't know if being frozen ground for 5 months makes a difference either.

Merry Christmas
