It is best to use PLA in a machine like that. ABS likes to be printed in an enclosure to prevent warping. I use Inland brand from microcenter com. About $20.00 per kilo delivered, quickly. There is very little reason for ABS with improved strength of PLA+, if you need it. It should also print well in your machine, but needs to be tempered for highest strength.

One thing to pay attention to with a machine of that style is that the filament feed motor has to push and retract thru a tube Teflon tube to feed the extruder and if the tube is loose it will make a sloppy print. Other style machines have the feed motor on the head of the machine and have less issues.

The printing process requires feeding and retracting filament to prevent the over extrusion (kind of like a caulking gun does if you do not retract or take the pressure off when you stop feeding it will ooze).

Because the machine is pushing some length of filament there is slop in it, the tighter the feed tube is mounted, the nicer the print. There are also settings that can be adjusted for the amount of retraction for your machine.
