DeKalb, IL | I just checked on Amazon, and there's some reconditioned minis that are quite a bit newer than the one you've been considering--they are toward the upper end of your price bracket, however. But, if you can jump 6 to 8 years worth of development and still be within your range, it would be wise. I got a refurb Mac laptop on Amazon earlier this year, and it's been quite satisfactory.
As to your peripherals, it's hard to say without knowing what you've got and how old they are. I would be more concerned about the software that you're using. Many developers have both Windows and Mac OS versions of their programs, but you've got only one of them now, so you'd have to consider buying programs again. Further, some programs come only in Windows versions. If you require one of these, moving to a Mac would require you install Windows on it--so you're back to where you started. | |
