For fun, I converted the two formulas into one so formulas in two cells aren't needed.
=LEFT(A2,LEN(LEN(A2))*5)
This returns the first 15 characters from A2.
I never knew LEN would tell me the number of digits in a number. That might be useful, not sure where.
