My CPA says they are different. Told me to stay with the desktop version because of payroll. I am using the desktop version and storing my files on my Microsoft one drive account. Works great because I can access from either my desktop or laptop.
Yeah payroll is a flat rate on desktop and per employee per month (I believe) on online.
