They are speculative while they are being mined. Value should go up until they mature, so they are more like a stock than an actual currency.
Once they mature (get mined out) then they become more like a currency, but Then lose their enthusiasm. I think people will drop them and buy the next new digital coin that is still growing (being mined).
I dont see how they retain value when they transition from active mining to stable ‘currency’.
Managing the electronic accounting costs someone something, it appears to fall on the merchants that accept the various digital coinage. Will that acceptance grow or diminish? A currency has no value if no one accepts it as payment......
Will be interesting what happens to all of them over the next few decades.
