Not sure what generation of Office you're using, but when I've run into that type of message, I've had to follow the option to 'Repair Now'. Back in the day when Office came on a disk, I'd usually have to insert it into the drive, but more recently the process involved a few minutes of waiting for the repair to run, then restarting the program(s).
