NE Kansas | I did about the same thing. My two brothers and I put on some chicken fried steak on the stove top. We went to watch tv, later I went back in the kitchen. Everything was on fire. I turned the gas off and went and got the hose. I put out the fire with the water hose. Mom and Dad were not to mad (I guess). We never got in trouble. To this day, I don't know how I put out hot oil with water. I do know that I sprayed a mist of water. I think turning off the stove gave me the room for the oil to calm down a little bit. I was probably 11-12. I learned to always move everything off the stove because of this episode. It is amazing that I lived to be 18 or 21 or 27. | |
